皆さんは、いったいどのような動機でJDAの会員になっているのでしょう？初心者なのでディべート自体を勉強したい、ディべート関係のイベントの情報を知りたい、学生時代のディべート活動がなつかしくて、あるいはディべート活動に貢献するという使命感に燃えて（？）、などが主なところでしょう。

しかし、American Forensic Association (AFA)会員の米国ディべートコーチを見ていると、学生時代にディべート活動にかかわった結果、コミュニケーション学に興味を持つようになり、政治コミュニケーション論やレトリックを研究するようになった人たちが多いようです。かくゆう私もそんな１人で、カンザス大学やノースウエスタン大学大学院留学中はディべートコーチをしながら、米国や日本の政治的言説(political discourse)のレトリック批評を研究していました。

実際、国際政治や米国大統領選挙関係のニュースを聞いていると、報道のスタイルや議論の方法がディべート的だと感じることがしばしばあります。逆に言えば、政治コミュニケーション論を知ることは現実世界のディべートを知ることでもあります。 そこで、現実社会におけるディべートに接するひとつの方法として、今回は「政治コミュニケーション関連ホームページ」を皆さんにご紹介したいと思います。スペースの関係でそれぞれの説明は簡略化してありますが、以下のような方々に利用していただければ幸いです。

（１）最新の国際統計や国際動向を知りたい学生ディベーター、

（２）時事英語に興味のある社会人、

（３）過去の米国大統領選ディべートや歴代大統領の就任演説などスピーチ研究のテクストを手に入れたい研究者。
