The First
Tokyo Conference on Argumentation will be held at the
National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo, Japan, August 7-9, 2000. The
conference is sponsored by the Japan Debate Association(JDA) and the
Tokai University Research Institute of Educational Development. The
conference is designed to encourage exchanges of views on the topics
of interest include: argumentation and rhetoric, forensic pedagogy,
the philosophy and psychology of reasoning, and practical or
historical studies. We anticipate that this conference will draw up
forty of leading scholars in argumentation and debate from Asia, the
United States and Europe. Qualified papers will appear in our
Proceedings, to be distributed at the Conference.
